SAT |
The origin of the Scholastic Aptitude Test or SAT, as it is now known, can be traced back to 1901 when College Board started administering the standardized test. Since then, the importance of this test has increased continuously. SAT is today taken by over 2 million students every year for getting admission in the colleges in USA. This is because most colleges in USA take into consideration the score obtained in either the SAT Reasoning test or the SAT Subject test while admitting students. Therefore, SAT is taken not only by the students of America but also all those who want to pursue their college education in USA. The SAT is developed, published and scored by Educational testing Service (ETS).

The SAT reasoning test that seeks to measure the critical thinking skills one needs for academic success in colleges consist of ten sections. It tests the critical reading ability, writing skills and mathematical skills of the students. The SAT reasoning test is of 3 hours and 45 minutes duration.
SAT Subject Test:
The SAT subjects test is used by some colleges for admission, placements and advising students which course would best suit them. One can take the subject test in either of the following main subject categories- English, History and Social Studies, Languages, mathematics and Science. Although SAT subject test is not mandatory in most colleges in USA, one can take it for making an evaluation about one's capabilities. Most SAT Subject tests are of one hours duration having multiple-choice questions.
In order to make SAT preparation easier, the College Board makes available practice questions. For registering online for SAT, you would have to log on to College Board's website, that administers the test.
