The Sharda Educational Trust was formed in 1995, by a group of leaders from industry, trade and academia with the avowed objective of providing “Professional Education to meet Global Challenges”. Post the liberalization of economic policies in early ninetees, as signs of economic growth and renaissance became visible and it also become increasingly evident that the transition into a globalized knowledge economy would need an ever larger number of technically and
professionally qualified youthful manpower, who have been groomed to respond to the changing needs of trade and business, the need emerged for a new class of educational institutions equipped to provide the right mix of inputs, with the intellectual competence to select, educate, train and develop students to meet this national demand of industry and trade.
The Sharda Educational Trust was therefore formed as an educational initiative in response to these trends and started off with its first venture in 1996 by establishing the “Hindustan College of Science and Technology" located on National Highway Two -(NH#2) between Agra and Mathura with an initial student strength of 160.
Today, a little over a decade later, as the economy grows at a healthy rate and the demand for the knowledge professional, team leaders and managers has been increasing at a phenomenal rate, the Sharda Educational Trust has earned a goodwill by establishing bench marks in academic excellence and holistic grooming of students, to meet the career challenges in an increasingly competitive, connected and globalized market place. The group institutions have consistently delivered the promised performances, and adopted best practices and student centric policies and systems.
Thus in a short span of 12 years it has grown into a conglomerate of 14 colleges; operating from four large self owned campuses with a student strength of 12,000(+) students, collectively known as the Sharda Group of Institutions or popularly as SGI (pronounced discreetly as S.G.I.) offering 42 graduate and post graduate courses in professional disciplines covering engineering and technology, management studies, computer studies and IT, Medical, Dental, Para medical and Nursing and allied sciences; Pharma and Education. The Group is the Largest Educational entity in North India today, and occupies a premier position and goodwill; won largely by earning the respect and trust of the students and parents, who are the customers of its operational services. SGI Colleges are also held in esteem by the corporate world of trade and industry; who are the customers of its product value addition-and increasingly more and more front running companies are sourcing their entry level professional manpower needs from these colleges. No wonder that the group is expanding almost @ 25% annually thus becoming the fastest growing group of educational institutions; a growth driven by the trust in its promised performances and past best practices.

It is both an independent multi speciality corporate Hospital and a support base for training of Medical/Paramedical Course students.
The NCR campus colleges of SGI have approached the Government for grant of Deemed University status to pave the way for greater autonomy and flexibility in course and curriculum design; national and international alliances and creation of superior level of excellence in its unending pursuit of providing, best in class, educational services. The university status is likely to be granted in 2008-09 session.

Affiliations & Approvals
All the SGI Colleges carry the necessary statutory and regulatory approval/affiliations. Engineering & Management courses are approved by AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India) and affiliated to U.P. Technical Univ., Lucknow (except BBA & BCA Courses, which are in affiliation with the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Univ., AGRA or CCS Univ., Meerut : PGDM, PGPM are autonomous courses approved by AICTE ). BDS is approved by Dental Council of India. Paramedical Courses are recognized by the State Govt. (U.P. State Medical Faculty). Approval of MBBS by Medical Council of India is in process, state approval has been obtained.
NBA Accreditation
Accreditation by NBA (National Board of Accreditation, AICTE) is a certification of excellence of the courses delivered, the infrastructure and the faculty being of international standards. Fourteen of the courses offered are accredited by NBA including MBA (ONE) MCA (ONE) & B.Tech. - CS, EI, EC, ME, EE , IT, (in all TWELVE) SGI is the only educational group in Northern India currently holding accreditations for 14 courses in MBA, MCA & B.Tech. degrees.
