SSC Stenographer's Grade 'D' Examination

The SSC Stenographer's Grade 'D' Examination is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission. The Staff Selection Commission, known earlier as the Services Selection Commission, organizes examinations for recruitment of personnel into the Class III and Class IV categories of employees in the Central as well as State Government cadre.

Through the SSC Stenographer's Grade D Examination of the Staff Selection Commission, the Government of India recruits
  • Grade D Stenographers for the Central Secretariat - Group X category
  • Grade D Stenographers for the Railway Board Secretariat - Group X category
  • Grade III stenographers for the Indian Foreign Service - Group X category
  • Grade D Stenographers for the Armed Forces Headquarters - Group X category
  • Stenographers for the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs - Group X category
  • Stenographers in Govt. Offices and other Departments which are not part of the above services/ Departments
  • Stenographers for the subordinate offices of the Government at an all India level - Group Y category
  • Stenographers for the offices of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India and Accountant General -Group Y category
  • Stenographers for the Controller General of Defense Accounts - Group Y category
  • Stenographers for the Delhi Administration -Group Y category
  • Stenographers in Govt. Offices and other Departments which are not part of the above services/ Departments

Eligibility Criteria for the SSC Stenographer's Grade 'D' Examination

:
  • The eligibility criteria for recruitment of personnel in the SSC Stenographer's Grade 'D' Examination are:
  • Candidates should be between 18 and 25 years of age as on January 1 of the year in which the examination is conducted
  • For Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribes the maximum age limit of years may be relaxed to a maximum age limit of 30 years. This age limit may also be relaxed in case of other persons as notified by the appropriate authority.
  • Candidates must have passed the Class X examination or any other examination having the same educational value

Application Procedure for SSC Stenographer's Grade 'D' Examination

:

The SSC Stenographer's Grade 'D' Examination is normally scheduled for the month of May.

The public is notified about the SSC Stenographer's Grade 'D' Examination through an advertisement in the Employment News and other leading dailies of India. The advertisement is normally published in the December of the year previous to which the examination is held. Applications are received up to the last week of January.

Selection Procedure for SSC Stenographer's Grade 'D' Examination



The SSC Stenographer's Grade D Examination is made up of a Written Test and a Shorthand Test The written objective type test of 2 hours duration is taken on the following subjects:
  • General Awareness: 100 marks
  • Language Test: 100 marks:
Only those who qualify for the written test have to appear for the shorthand test
