SSC Clerks Grade Examination is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) which was established on September 26, 1977 as an organization responsible for formulation of policies regarding schemes of examination and other procedures for smooth conduct of examinations / selection tests, including various Departmental Examinations for recruitment to Group B (Non-Gazetted) and non-technical group 'C' non-gazetted posts in the Ministries/ Departments, attached and subordinate offices of the Government of India; the C.A.G and its Accountant-General offices, Election Commission and the Central Vigilance Commission.
Every year, the Staff Selection Commission conducts a number of competitive examinations for recruitment to the lower categories of posts in the various governmental offices across India, providing employment opportunities for the Indian youth in the bureaucratic set up of the country. The SSC Clerks Grade Examination is held once a year, generally in the month of September for recruitment of clerks in the various governmental offices.
SSC Clerks Grade Examination Application Details
Notifications of the Civil Services Examination are published every year in the month of April in the Employment News and other leading newspapers of India. Candidates are required to apply as per the proforma printed in the newspapers. The last date of submission of completed application forms is usually in the third week of May every year.
SSC Clerks Grade Examination Eligibility Criteria
Indian citizens belonging to the age group of 18 to 25 years and who have passed the Matriculation / equivalent examination are eligible to apply for the SSC Clerks Grade Examination. Upper age limit is relaxable for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes etc. as per the norms stipulated by the Government of India.
SSC Clerks Grade Examination Selection Procedure
The selection procedure for the SSC Clerks Grade Examination is divided into two stages :
- A Written Examination comprising of four sections each carrying a maximum of 50 marks. Candidates are tested on their knowledge in the following subjects : General Intelligence and Clerical Aptitude, English Language, Numerical Aptitude and General Awareness.Questions in these tests will be of Objective Type Multiple Choice pattern.
Candidates will be required to qualify each section separately failing which they will not be considered eligible for the Type Writing Test. The duration of the written examination is 2 hours. Questions asked in the Written Examination will be of the Matriculation standard.
- Successful candidates in the Written Examination are required to appear for a Type Writing Test in which the candidates will be required to typewrite of one paper of 'Running Matter' of 10 minutes duration. Candidates having a typewriting speed of not less than 30 words per minute in English or not less than 25 words per
minute in Hindi will be considered for recommendation for appointment.
