The state of school education in Andhra Pradesh has developed to a great extent in the recent past. Different Kinds of Schools in Andhra Pradesh
Schools in Andhra Pradesh can be categorized as Pre-Primary Schools, Primary Schools, Elementary Schools, Secondary Schools and Senior Secondary Schools. Apart from the schools affiliated to the state education board, there are several other affiliated to the CBSE or ICSE board. Most of the schools in the state allow admission from Lower KG to 10th Standard. Some of the CBSE and ICSE board schools also offer admission for 12th standard.

Medium of Teaching in Andhra Pradesh Schools
As per the directive of the state government, English will be the medium of teaching in selected 6,500 state-run schools and CBSE syllabus will replace the existing syllabus from the year 2009. These changes are specially meant for the students to develop their base in English. Special arrangements have also been made for providing proper training to the teachers who have been teaching in Telugu for so long. However, one can also come across schools in Andhra Pradesh where the medium of teaching is Telugu.

Drop Outs in Andhra Pradesh Schools
The state government of Andhra Pradesh has taken up several measures to check the drop out rates among school students. In order to reduce the dropout rate of girl students on account of physiological reasons, the government has also taken up steps to provide restrooms in schools.
